Correction to “In Defense Of The King”

Earlier I wrote a blog about Michael Jackson’s bodyguards In Defense Of The King,   where I practically praised their book like The Book of the year, and expressed how much I was looking forward to read it. Well things have changed since my latest blog. A lot have changed actually. It all started with a comment on my latest blog,  and this comment was a real eye opener for me, and others as well.

After I read this comment and watched the interview again, it all stood out for me. These bodyguards are not up to something good and right now it doesn’t look like they are defending anyone. To me, all they want is money and the only thing they have right now is their former boss ~Michael Jackson. Their book is called In Defense Of The King, and they make it very clear, that they are defending Michael because someone have to, as they say, but after listening to the interview, I began to look deeper into their answers to the fans on Twitter and Facebook.

After they received several questions, on Twitter, about how they came into possession of private documents, like Michael’s emails – in the interview they call themselves the “gatekeepers” to protect and shield Michael, and now they publish a book based on these documents – one of their answers were:
“Is it just US but does anyone see the questions this dude is asking?”
Apparently they don’t like the critical questions about the privacy of their former boss, a privacy they have been talking a lot about as something that was important to keep. In any case, the fans that asked critical questions like this, ended up being blocked by MJbodyguards on Twitter. They even assumed the questions were like the questions the press would ask.

Dont you think it is okay to ask questions like this? Is it okay to publish private documents from Michael? Is it even okay for them to STILL be in possession of these documents? Shouldn’t they have been handed over to the Estate long ago – maybe even be a part of the ongoing investigation and court case that Michael’s death has led to? Some gatekeepers they are..

Even though we were just a couple of people that asked critical questions, it seemed like it got to be too much for them to handle. Right now they haven’t been writing on Twitter for a couple of weeks and one of their last tweets are:
“We are writing a positive book about MJ, we expect the media to criticize us but coming from a FAN! U can keep your Negativity to yourself”

So they took it as criticism from us. It wasn’t planned to be . We were just concerned when realising that they were in possession of private documents, and ready to use them for their book. I think it is fair to ask them clarify these issues.

But I do find it suspicious that they are not ready for the dialogue with the fans, if their book are so positive and protective as they say it is. They should not only be ready to defend The King, but also to defend their own decision to write this book.

What is the reason that no one wants to publish it? Is it because it is a positive book or because it is the opposite?? Are they doing this for their own sake ~moneywise, or it is like they say all for charity?? God knows it got a lot of PR already, and a large group of fans is just waiting to buy the book, so it is a success even before it is printed.
But when you hire a bodyguard you do count on their confidentiality, and the last thing you’ll expect is that they would write a book about you right??

This is of course just my own personal opinion. With them being very quite about their intentions and not answering questions, lead me and others to change our opinions about them and the book.  The bodyguards are of course more than welcome to write a blog here or comment on this blog anytime, but I doubt they ever will.

Excellent update to your blog hon…..sometimes I think the exploitation of Our King will never end, and it saddens me beyond words. This man gave this world NOTHING but LOVE, and all he wanted…ALL he ever wanted in return was to be loved!

Sweet, sweet, Michael…there ARE people in this world that truly DO love you with the purest love, just as you loved others..I just wish he had known…REALLY KNOWN that in his heart. It tears me apart because I know he never felt he had that…other than with his beautiful children.

Shame on the so called keepers of the gate, I will NEVER buy their book….

At inception, this book may have been a great idea, because lord knows the bookstores are lined with ANTI-MJ books and usually are written by people who are bent on destroying this gentle spirit. We could actually use a really thoughtful, well written truthful book on MJ. In fact, I would love to pursue Tom Mesereau along that vein because his in depth knowledge of what occurred in trial would be very enlightening to the public at large. Mostly because, the press did not cover the cross examinations and Sneddon’s evidence tampering shenanigans: but I digress. The bodyguards came out in the interviews as defenders of MJ, they wanted people to know that he was just a regular ‘man’s man’. In their fervor to be supportive or as they call themselves ‘defenders’ they may have crossed the line on what MJ himself wanted to be kept private. They talk about his girlfriends and smooch sessions in the back seat of the car, clearly MJ was not public about his romantic interests. If MJ wanted us to know these women, he would have publicly escorted them about town, but ever the gentlemen he kept them secret so they themselves would not be hounded by the press. The bodyguards talked about Paris, clearly MJ always kept his children out of the spotlight. They talked about his finances, ditto… So yes, they may have initially thought this was a great idea but I am not sure they thought through the ramifications of going against the very premise that MJ lived by, which is his RIGHT to privacy. Secondarily, if they show a lack of where with all to deal with a few inquiring minds on twitter, how in the world would they handle a hard ass interviewer like Bill O’Reilly, who is decidedly anti-MJ? The MJ fan base would fully support a PRO Michael Jackson book and it is unfortunate that they lost the opportunity to win them over by being a little knee jerk reactive to some of the questioners. Perhaps, with input from MJ’s devoted fans they could have produced a very enlightening and beautifully written book about our beloved MJ. My questions are- Did Katherine Jackson approve of this book about her son? What’s the status of the book now? Do they even have a publisher yet?

According to them they will show Katherine the book.
You talked about him being a lady´s man, I believe most fans liked the bodyguards because of that. The problem is, the fans asked them very often about the mysterious ladies, etc, and they can think that Michael fans are obsessed about his sex life. They seem tired about that type of questions lol.
They even began to talk like the fans, they say “OMG” a lot LOL

These 3 men can pop up from a Twitter account, release public interviews, whatever they want: their words remain only words in the air, unless they find a publisher…but no one has come out yet to publish their book. What we still have now, are only the statements from 3 men, seemingly looking only for their 15 minutes of fame/fortune. Let the Estate or the Family take a position or pursue a civil suit against them. Have they ever thought of possibly slandering or defaming their former boss? Have they ever thought of breaching a confidential agreement? Have they ever thought of improperly detaining private documents that should be (or should have been) given to the Estate or the Authorities? Well, MJ community is smart enough not to fall at their pretentious “truths”.
“Silence is golden”…that’s the only “truth” the should show the world of fans, out of respect for MJ.

It´s true, I´ve read in the bodyguard community site that critic.

I don´t believe they´re having difficulties on publishing the book. There are some positive book published around. Some times I feel they say things just because they want to please the fans…

      • October 3, 2010 at 00:09

Why isn’t the book published yet if they don’t have problems finding a publisher? I have read several places (articles) saying they were shopping around to find a publisher, could be because they can’t find one or because they are not satisfied with the offers they get.
The book more or less sold itself before being printed, because of the many fans Michael has. And it has gotten so much PR in the media, so why do you think it is not published yet?

        I am just curious..;)

          • October 3, 2010 at 00:31

I thought the idea was to have it finished around his birthday in august. So it has to be done by now. Or am I wrong?

Okay, I found this on their Twitter:

You are correct. They are not done writing the book yet. As for publishers….they have denied publishers offers because the publishers have offered to publish with the stipulation that they add more controversial material which the BG’s refuse to do. Because of the death of MJ publishers want trash because trash sells. These guys have done the right thing thus far.

I hate to say this, but I told you. Since the beginning I had a bad feeling about those guys. It was obvious they were taking the advantage of the position they had as MJ´s bodyguards, to make money. I´d like to tell the fans not to buy the book. I understand every fan would like to know more and more about MJ, maybe new details we haven´t known yet. But, with this kind of people, it´s worthless.

No no no it’s absolutly okay to say I told you so :-).. Infact I hate to see the fans buying this book as well… Right now I’m working on a new blog about the people Michael surrounded himself with.. Soo stick around to read more about the moneymaking staff he had..

      Sorry my english:
I had a bad feeling too but just after they created their facebook. The fist thing I noticed is they joined groups against people the fans don´t like because the speculation that people do about Michael´s sexuality, but not the people who believe he was a molester(Tom Snedom, Dimond etc). It´s like they just did something for pleasing the fans.
Besides they seem to skip some questions the fans did and seem annoyed if the same question is repeated.
Now a doubt, exists any video of their claims in May, when they said to ABC that one of Michael´s girlfriends had an european accent?

You have to worry about Michael Jackson’s staff, many of them have turned on him or exploited him (not all of course), but you hear the stories of Big E selling Michael’s Mask, you hear that Mr Carter was convicted of robbery, you hear that other bodyguards have written books, during the trial you heard that one staff member stole toys that were to be distributed to needy children.

One recent bodyguard, now claims that he is the father of Michael’s youngest child. The list of fathers is amazing, and includes friends, and associates.

I don’t know why people don’t give the same respect that they expect for themselves. Even in death there is a lack of consideration.

    • October 6, 2010 at 14:44

You are right – as usual I might add.
This kind of reminds me of the “Neverland Five”, the 5 former employees that were ready to testify that MJ molested children at Neverland, and in the end it turned out to be fired former employees that felt cheated for money or whatever..

Is the keyword in these cases “former employee”?

As Bill was the recognized gatekeeper of Michael’s emails, other documents and communications, some of which went through his laptop, it is fair comment to ask where those documents are now. He could have provided a response that he deleted his hard drive and gave everything back to Mike on departure or like Tohome on Mike’s death gave the estate $5mil. But they side stepped the question, and made unfavourable references all because of a simple question.

In default of an answer, it just makes you think. In the full GMA interview documents were flagged up, and you wonder whether these are the documents that they are referring to.

I have nothing personally against the self named mjbodyguards, I just think that they had not appreciated what they were doing and may should have considered their famous client first and last.

Ok EVERYONE that’s ever written a book about Michael is writing it for the money. His own mother said the “Never Can Say Goodbye” book was for money. Jermaine’s book was for money. Latoya’s book was for money. (I don’t recall them offering to donate that money to charity). Rebbie is only touring now after God knows how many years because she can make money off of her dead brother. These guys at least have something NEW to bring to the table. They lost their JOBS when Michael died.
