Creative genius

We all know MJ as the greatest entertainer of all times. Since he was a kid, God gifted him with an incredible talent which he later developed at the utmost. From his long gone days in his hometown Gary, Indiana, where he used to sing and dance in front of his parents’ bedroom mirror, to the unrivalled success of his hits, he went through decades of music delighting us with his creative genius.

MJ,the shy kid, then man endowed with a beautiful voice and a natural inclination to dance, acquired, after long routine sessions, those refined qualities that made him the Artist of the Millennium (Award he won in 2002).

He was an innovative choreographer. He created his own dance moves, mastering them to perfection, creating a unique style of his own. Do you remember the Robot in “Dancing Machine” video?

That blank glare and the slow motion movements of the joints, were the forerunners to the famous Moonwalk, along with the backslide and the sideway walks: his trademarks. And what about the grab crotch? No one would have done it any better.

He liked experimenting new technologies at the service of music. He was able to transform music videos from a self promotional stuff into innovative art. He was assisted by greatest movie directors, such as John Landis, Steven Spielberg, Martin Scorsese, Herb Ritts & Spike Lee, who helped him, an Afro-American young artist, to establish a remarkable reputation into the Video/Music industry. His 1980s videos like “Beat it”, “Billie Jean” & “Thriller”, granted him many Awards. (MJ achieved more than 380 Worldwide Awards in his lifetime!).

He was also an astute businessman, carrying the most fortuitous situations to his advantages. After a long negotiation, he acquired the copyrights of the ATV Music Publishing and its assets, Pye Records & Northern Records, striking a big deal in the music industry at $ 47,5 mln. Later in the mid 1990s he merged with Sony, gaining $ 90 mln in the venture. The actual Sony/ATV Music Publishing has an estimated market value of $ 1,5 bln!!

Do you remember the antigravity Lean in “Smooth Criminal” video? Yes, that shoes system that allows the wearer to lean forwardly beyond his center of gravity! Well, he even patented it in the 1990s! Well done, Michael!

But what I want to celebrate most in this blog is MJ’s pure musical genius that brought him to visualize music behind his songs! The sequence of composition he used to go through when he generally created his songs was unique. By his own admission he wasn’t able to read music. MJ said it wasn’t necessary. And we all agree with him!!

By the way, Beethoven was deaf and Bach was completely blind by the end of his life. He said the melody created itself in his head. He could hear the chords, the strings, the bass, the lyrics: they all came to his head one by one, and vocally/orally added by him into a voice recorder. Sometimes it took him several weeks to realize a song, from the very beginning to the final version. He was a perfectionist and was never completely satisfied with the product of his music creation. That’s why he wrote dozens of songs for just a single album, that’s why he later chose those ones to keep for further developments. That’s why he left us more than 200 unreleased songs…

For MJ, lyrics came soon after hearing the melodic composition.

The link below offers an example of what I’m writing about:

MJ had musical skills beyond human possibilities. Have you ever heard him beatboxing? Have a look here and enjoy yourselves:

Michael used the knowledge to transform the instinct of his divine inspiration into a lucky self-awareness of successful Hits! His music will live forever!

My Goodness!! Wonderful Job … I love it. I will NEVER get tired of tributes. I enjoy reading everyone I come across. Tributes I’ve read may have the same information. Some tributes have little tid bits of FYI’s I didn’t know about. Other tributes may offer a picture I haven’t seen before. All tributes are unique, simply because they’re from each unique heart that loves Michael. I especially enjoy the standing photo on the “Michael Jackson and the Dangerous Court Case Deposition 1994” video. That’s a photo I could just stare at all day! We’re all his voice, we have to be. We’re united as one, because of him!
Thank You for sharing! Franci (111FAS)
